Tangled.....yarn?

So.....
Here is the yarn before I started to "untangle it".

Here it is the next day - today - after I worked on it for a couple of hours yesterday. Is it progress?
Well, yes, in a way since I finally found the ends. Notice the 2 ziploc sandwich baggies with the little rolled up ends in them.
We'll see how far I get today.

If anyone has a better/quicker way to untangle such a lovely yarn, please let me know. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is on my side bar.
I forgot to mention - it's Cherry Tree Hill. No, I didn't buy it this way. Someone had it and now I have it. :)

  1. I had yarn like that too for my Molly Sweater. Took me three days. In the end, I actually considered burning it and buying more, but the frugality in me stopped me.

    Good luck!

  2. Ha, Ha! Yup, I had been thinking about just tossing it but then thought.....what else have I got to do today......LOL
I'm frugal, too, so back to the tangled mess that I think I'm half way through and it's....almost 6 p.m.

  3. I have always been that frugal, too, and have mostly good success at detangling... I usually try to stretch it out as far as possible so that I can see where to pass over or under as I wind. Wishing you luck!

  4. Ah, yes, the tangled mess. How I love to play at being Ariadne as I unwind and unkink because -- well -- I'm just that thrifty!

  5. Been there, done that - and have the knitted objects to prove it.

Don't try this with mohair - you will go insane.

For what it is worth - I have a tendency to work on a cleared off table - and put what ever loops I can identify over get a bunch of things.

I find that spreading it out makes it easier, and that I don't wind up pulling the wrong thing and make it worse.

I can also see it better.

Having no cats - I am willing to sacrifice the coffee table for a few days.
